The HLG Scorpion Diablo X lamp operates optimally up to a maximum ambient temperature of 40°C. Above that, it is advisable to take precautions to prevent overheating.
Although it has an effective passive cooling system, we strongly recommend additional ventilation in confined spaces. This helps to dissipate the hot air produced and ensures a stable temperature, which is essential for the health of your plants and the longevity of your lamp.
The HLG Scorpion Diablo X – Reflector Series grow light at full power (approximately 700 W) benefits from integrated reflectors that significantly improve the PPFD distribution in depth. This design promotes a more uniform and intense distribution of the photon flux throughout the canopy, even in a dense environment, allowing for better light penetration at the lower levels of the plants.
Although precise data on the PPFD distribution in depth is not publicly available, observations on similar models indicate a high PPFD (600–700 µmol/m²/s) up to 30–60 cm below the lamp. This distribution fosters optimal photosynthesis across the entire plant, maximizing growth and yield.
With an outstanding photon efficiency of 3.06 µmol/J, this lamp ensures excellent light output. This efficiency, combined with enhanced light distribution, typically results in a high overall yield in g/W, especially in dense growing configurations where good light penetration is essential to avoid shadow areas and stimulate biomass across the entire canopy.
In summary: the HLG Scorpion Diablo X – Reflector Series offers deep and uniform light penetration that optimizes production in dense environments, ensuring a gram per Watt yield above average due to its high photon efficiency and improved PPFD distribution.
For a growing area of 1m by 1m, the HLG Scorpion Diablo X is ideally placed at a height of 38 to 60 cm (15 to 24 inches) above the plant cover. This position allows for excellent light distribution while avoiding stress zones due to excess PPFD. With its built-in reflectors, light penetrates well to the lower levels of your plants.
It is important to adjust the light intensity using the dimming function, either manually or wirelessly, to balance the PPFD according to the specific needs of your crop and ensure that no area is overloaded. A single Scorpion Diablo X is sufficient for this volume, but height and power remain key for optimal penetration without light stress.
To optimize the HLG Scorpion Diablo X according to your plants' phases, it is ideal to adjust the light intensity with its integrated potentiometer for precise settings. During the growth phase, favor a less intense light by keeping the lamp at 30-36 inches, covering about 6 x 6 feet. During flowering, increase the intensity and lower the lamp to 15-24 inches to make full use of 5 x 5 feet for maximum yield.
For added convenience, control via RJ12 0-10V or wirelessly with the GrowFlux option offers fine and programmed management of light intensity, allowing you to automatically adapt your light cycles for improved quality and yield.
The HLG Scorpion Diablo X offers great flexibility for managing multiple varieties with different light needs in the same room. Thanks to its dimmable system, it is possible to precisely adjust the light intensity for each area or group of plants, lowering the power for less demanding plants and keeping it higher for those that require more light.
It is also advisable to adjust the hanging height according to the growth phase (closer for flowering, farther away during vegetative stage) and to organize your space with shelves or supports at different heights. You can also place the most light-hungry plants directly under the lamp, while the others will be on the periphery, where the illumination is naturally softer.
Finally, if necessary, use barriers or reflectors to limit light diffusion in sensitive areas and thus create adapted light atmospheres. This combination of adjustments makes the HLG Scorpion Diablo X a powerful tool for harmoniously growing several varieties under the same lighting.
To adjust the light intensity of the HLG Scorpion Diablo X between growth and flowering, several methods are possible:
Additionally, modify the installation height: about 30-36 inches (75-90 cm) during the growth phase to limit intensity, and lower to 15-24 inches (38-60 cm) during flowering to maximize light without causing stress. This combined adjustment ensures an excellent balance between yield and plant health.

The HLG Scorpion Diablo X - Reflector Series uses a passive cooling system, meaning without fans, which naturally dissipates heat through its chassis. This cooling is effective for a continuous power of 700W, provided the ambient temperature does not exceed about 40°C.
In a well-ventilated space, this passive system is sufficient. However, in a grow tent or closed environment, it is highly recommended to add active ventilation (extraction or air supply) to avoid overheating and ensure the thermal stability of the lamp as well as the health of the plants.
In summary, for a continuous session at 700W, passive cooling alone is only suitable if the air circulation is naturally good, otherwise, additional ventilation is necessary.
The HLG Scorpion Diablo X Grow Light differs from conventional LEDs by having an optimized spectrum, with more red diodes promoting better flowering and superior fruit quality in hydroponics. Its uniqueness also lies in its reflectors that ensure an even distribution of light, guaranteeing uniform growth across the canopy.
With a higher power (up to 715 W), it maximizes the yield of photons per watt, resulting in better growth and production performance, despite slightly lower energy efficiency compared to some LEDs.
Designed to adapt to various types of setups, it is ideal for those looking to optimize their indoor cultivation in hydroponics, enhancing both yield and quality.
The HLG Scorpion Diablo X - Reflector Series Grow Light does not have native compatibility with voice assistants like Alexa or Google Home. It allows for manual adjustment of light intensity only, with no remote management or programming via these platforms.
For wireless control, some more advanced HLG models require a specific accessory, but this feature is not available directly on the Scorpion Diablo X model. It is possible to add external smart home compatible controllers, but this requires additional hardware.
This estimate takes into account its nominal power and a typical lighting duration during growth or bloom phases. The lamp is dimmable, so this consumption can be adjusted according to your needs.
To make the most out of the HLG Scorpion Diablo X lamp, it is essential to adjust the suspension distance and dimming according to the growth phase:
Adjusting the light intensity via the built-in potentiometer or an external control (RJ12 0-10V or GrowFlux) allows for precise adjustment of the PPFD and avoids unnecessary overlighting.
With the six Diablo Quantum Boards equipped with built-in reflectors, light is evenly distributed across the entire growing surface, limiting shadow areas and promoting balanced growth.
By correctly combining suspension height and dimming, you will achieve optimal lighting, perfectly suited to the size and needs of your crop, for efficient and quality production.
It features integrated reflectors that optimize light distribution, promoting better penetration to the lower areas of the plants. This guarantees more uniform growth in often dense hydroponic environments, where light needs to reach all parts of the foliage.
Additionally, the two-zone dimming function allows for precise adjustment of light intensity according to growth phases, without requiring external equipment, a clear advantage over older models.
To optimize the dimming setting of the HLG Scorpion Diablo X - Reflector Series lamp and maximize the PPF without overheating, it is important to adjust the intensity using the integrated potentiometer or an external controller (RJ12 0-10V, GrowFlux). This allows you to modulate the light between 0 and 700 watts according to your plants' needs.
For a growing area of 1 m², hang the lamp between 38 and 60 cm above the canopy. This distance ensures good light penetration while avoiding excessive PPFD that could create stress zones or increase heat.
Thanks to its excellent photon efficiency (~3.06 µmol/J), the Scorpion Diablo X provides powerful light output with controlled consumption, thus reducing the risk of overheating. So adjust the power according to the ambient temperature and the growth phase to maintain an optimal environment.
To make the most of the HLG Scorpion Diablo X during a SCROG and maximize light penetration in the lower canopy, it is essential to combine several parameters.
First, adjust the light intensity using the built-in dimming options: a manual potentiometer, an external 0-10V control, or via the wireless GrowFlux system. This allows you to precisely modulate the power according to the growth stage and canopy density.
Second, maintain a hanging height between 15 and 24 inches (38 to 60 cm) during flowering for even distribution and good penetration, while avoiding light stress. In the vegetative phase, a higher height (30-36 inches) will preserve optimal development.
Third, take advantage of the built-in reflectors that effectively concentrate and diffuse light to illuminate the lower areas, which is crucial in a dense SCROG cultivation.
Finally, the spectrum rich in deep red promotes vigorous growth, so adjust the intensity to provide enough light without causing burn or stress. This strategy ensures optimal light penetration and harmonious development under your lamp.
