How to choose a horticultural LED panel?
   

To choose the right LED panel, I advise you to consider several key factors. First, think about the size of your grow space, as this will determine the necessary power. Next, consider the type of plants you are growing and their specific light spectrum needs. Finally, budget is an important element, but I recommend investing in quality for better efficiency and durability.

What power horticultural LED panel should I choose?
   

The ideal power depends directly on your grow area. As a general rule, I recommend aiming for approximately 30 to 50 actual watts per square foot (0.09 m²) for demanding crops like cannabis. For less demanding plants or seedlings, you can stay in the lower range. Remember that the power advertised by the manufacturer is not always the actual power consumed, so I rely on PPFD data if available.

What is the ideal distance to install a horticultural LED panel?
   

The installation distance is crucial to avoid light stress or, conversely, a lack of light. In practice, I often start by positioning the panel between 40 and 60 cm above the canopy, then adjust based on the plants' reaction. More powerful panels generally require a greater distance. The ideal is to use a lux meter or a PAR meter to measure light intensity and ensure your plants receive the right amount of light.

What is the difference between horticultural LEDs and HPS/MH?
   

The main difference lies in energy efficiency and light spectrum. Horticultural LEDs are much more energy-efficient and produce less heat, which simplifies climate management in your space. They also offer a more precise and adjustable light spectrum, adapted to different plant growth stages. HPS/MH, although powerful, are less efficient, generate a lot of heat, and have a less optimized spectrum. If I had to choose today, I would undoubtedly prioritize LEDs for their modernity and performance.

What light spectrum should I choose for a horticultural LED panel?
   

The choice of spectrum is essential. For vegetative growth, I recommend a blue-rich spectrum. For flowering, a spectrum with more red and far-red is ideal for stimulating flower and fruit production. Many modern LED panels offer full spectrum or adjustable spectra, which provides great versatility. This is what I prefer because it adapts to all plant phases and simplifies equipment.

Which horticultural LED panel for which grow area?
   

For a 60x60 cm area, a 100-150W actual power panel is often sufficient. For 80x80 cm, I generally go up to 150-200W. For a 100x100 cm space, I aim for 250-350W, and for 120x120 cm, you should count on 400-600W actual power. These figures are estimates, and I invite you to consult the technical specifications of our horticultural LED panels for specific coverage recommendations.

What is the best horticultural LED panel?
   

The 'best' LED panel is subjective and depends a lot on your specific needs and budget. However, I can tell you that the panels that stand out the most are those that offer high luminous efficacy (PPF/W), a full and modulable spectrum, and good heat dissipation for a long lifespan. Reputable brands known for their quality and reliability are often a good starting point. What I often see is that the initial investment in a good panel quickly pays for itself through energy savings and improved harvests.
