Accepted Answer

The ProActiv 840m³/h carbon filter from Garden HighPro is well designed for a 150mm diameter, so it is compatible with a standard extractor of this size, like the one you use for your greenhouse. Make sure that the capacity of your extractor does not exceed 840m³/h to ensure good filter efficiency. Regarding humidity management, the carbon filter is effective as long as the humidity level remains below 85%. For your tomatoes in the greenhouse, it is therefore important to ventilate well to prevent humidity from increasing too much, which could reduce the filter's performance. In summary, this filter can very well accompany your 150mm extractor to extend the season of your tomatoes without too much humidity, provided you carefully control your environment.

Question 2

Can the Proactiv 840m3h charcoal filter be reused after a complete cleaning, or must it be completely replaced to maintain its efficiency?

Accepted Answer

The ProActiv charcoal filter Ø150mm - 840m3/h uses activated carbon that permanently binds odors. Therefore, it cannot be cleaned to regain its initial efficiency. To ensure optimal filtration and long-lasting odor neutralization, the filter must be completely replaced when it starts to lose its efficiency.

Question 3

What is the sticker or accessory needed to ensure a perfect seal between the ProActiv 150mm filter and the ventilation duct in a hydroponic installation?

Accepted Answer

To ensure a perfect seal between the ProActiv Ø150 mm (840 m³/h) filter and the ventilation duct, it is essential to use a quality aluminum tape to seal the joint and a clamp suitable for the diameter of 150 mm. The aluminum tape will stick and seal the connection, while the clamp will hold the duct securely fastened to the filter flange, ensuring a stable and leak-free attachment.

Question 4

Does the ProActiv 150mm 840m3h activated carbon filter suit better for LED SCROG installations or classic HPS in terms of odor management and airflow?

Accepted Answer

The ProActiv filter Ø150mm – 840m³/h is designed for high filtration needs, with a flow rate capable of effectively managing air extracted from large setups. In classic HPS cultivation, where heat output is high, this high flow rate is essential to maintain good extraction and effectively limit odors. For a LED SCROG setup, the heat output being much lower, the extraction needs are less. A filter with a lower flow rate may be sufficient, but the ProActiv remains very efficient and ensures excellent odor management even with a large air volume. In summary: this filter is particularly suited to classic HPS setups due to its high flow rate, but it is also an excellent choice for LED SCROG if one seeks effective and durable filtration.

Question 5

Can this charcoal filter be used with an extractor of lower flow rate without losing odor efficiency?

Accepted Answer

The ProActiv Ø150mm - 840m³/h charcoal filter works very well with an extractor whose flow rate is lower than 840 m³/h. In fact, a lower airflow does not decrease the filter's odor efficiency; on the contrary, air flows more slowly through the activated carbon, which increases contact time and improves odor retention. However, it is important that the flow remains suitable for the size of the filter and your ventilation needs, but no loss of efficiency is to be feared with a lower flow rate.

Question 6

Does this Proactiv 840m3h carbon filter support continuous operation 24/7 without significant loss of filtration efficiency over several months?

Accepted Answer

The ProActiv carbon filter Ø150mm - 840m³/h from Garden HighPro is made with quality materials, including virgin coconut activated carbon, ensuring effective and durable filtration. Several users report good performance in intensive use, but no specific documentation confirms optimal resistance to continuous operation 24/7 over several months. In practice, as with any carbon filter, it is important to regularly monitor its effectiveness and replace it as soon as odor filtration decreases. This vigilance helps ensure a healthy environment, even in prolonged use.

Question 7

This Proactiv 840m3h charcoal filter uses virgin coconut activated carbon with a density of 730 gr/m2, but in practice, what is its true effective operating time before saturation in a standard indoor environment, and does the material remain consistent throughout this period without visible loss of efficacy?

Accepted Answer

The ProActiv Ø150mm 840 m³/h charcoal filter does indeed use high-density virgin coconut activated carbon, which provides it with excellent odor neutralization capability. In a standard indoor environment, its effectiveness generally remains for several months before saturation, but this duration mainly depends on the intensity and frequency of the odors to be treated. The filter remains efficient as long as no persistent odors are perceived, which is a sign of saturation. Its multilayer design ensures that the material retains its structure and effectively blocks unfiltered air throughout this period, without any notable visible loss of effectiveness. For optimal performance, it is recommended to regularly monitor its efficiency and replace the filter as soon as the odor neutralization decreases.

Question 8

What frequency of replacement do you recommend to maintain optimal filtration without increasing noise or decreasing airflow?

Accepted Answer

To ensure optimal filtration with the ProActiv Ø150mm - 840m3/h - Carbon filter - Garden HighPro, it is recommended to replace the carbon filter every 6 to 12 months. This timeframe can be shortened to approximately 3 to 6 months if your environment is particularly humid or if odors are more intense. Also, remember to regularly check and clean the pre-filter to prevent dust from reducing the effectiveness of the activated carbon without generating noise or hindering airflow.

Question 9

Is it possible to remotely monitor the saturation of the Proactiv 840m3h charcoal filter to anticipate its replacement without having to perform frequent manual inspections?

Accepted Answer

There is no integrated system to remotely monitor the saturation of the ProActiv Ø150mm - 840m3/h carbon filter from Garden HighPro. To anticipate its replacement, it is common to carry out regular manual inspections. However, in indoor cultivation, some enthusiasts use advanced methods such as differential pressure measurement or gas sensors, which allow detecting a decrease in performance due to saturation, but this requires additional equipment and specific installation. If you want a more connected solution, it may be interesting to add a differential manometer or a suitable detector, but this is not provided as standard with this model.

Question 10

What is the pressure drop of the ProActiv 840m³/h filter at 150mm to optimize my ventilation system without losing flow rate?

Accepted Answer

The ProActiv Ø150mm - 840m³/h filter is designed to minimize pressure drop thanks to its multilayer technology, thereby reducing resistance to airflow. Although the exact value of pressure drop is not specified, for similar models (e.g. Ø125mm - 460m³/h), it generally remains below 10-40 Pa, which is lower than the average of standard filters. To optimize your system without losing flow rate, it is recommended to pair this filter with a fan capable of providing a flow rate close to 840 m³/h, to avoid overload and maximize performance.

Question 11

Can the ProActiv 840m3h carbon filter be connected in series with multiple extractors to increase the filtration capacity in a large indoor installation?

Accepted Answer

The ProActiv carbon filter Ø150mm - 840m³/h is designed for a maximum flow rate of 840 m³/h. It is not recommended to connect multiple extractors in series to a single filter in order to increase the filtration capacity. Overloading the filter beyond its capacity significantly reduces its efficiency, as the air passes through the activated carbon too quickly, limiting the filtration of odors. For a large indoor installation with a larger air volume, the best solution is to use multiple carbon filters in parallel, each connected to its own extractor. This configuration ensures optimal filtration and a good balance of airflow, while preserving the performance and longevity of the equipment.

Question 12

Is it possible to buy replaceable charcoal cartridges for this filter in order to limit waste and optimize cost in the long term?

Accepted Answer

For the ProActiv Ø150mm - 840m³/h charcoal filter from Garden HighPro, there are no replaceable charcoal cartridges. This model is designed as a monoblock filter with integrated and sealed activated charcoal, without a modular system allowing to change only the charcoal. Thus, to limit waste and optimize cost, a complete replacement of the filter at the end of its life will be necessary. We recommend managing this replacement with consideration for the appropriate recycling of materials when possible.

Question 13

Is it compatible with home automation systems or is external API control possible for air quality automation integration?

Accepted Answer

The ProActiv Ø150mm - 840m3/h carbon filter from Garden HighPro is a passive device dedicated to air purification without built-in electronics or connected interface. It offers no compatibility with a home automation system, nor control via external API. For automation or advanced air quality control, this filter needs to be paired with sensors and controllable fans that are compatible with your home automation solution, in order to manage air extraction according to your needs. In summary, this classic carbon filter does not integrate directly into a home automation system nor can it be controlled remotely via API.

Question 14

Coconut activated carbon is often effective, but what guarantee do you have on the actual durability of the filter after about 6 months of intensive use?

Accepted Answer

The filter ProActiv Ø150mm - 840m3/h uses virgin coconut activated carbon, recognized for its high surface area and optimized density, which gives it excellent filtering potential. With intensive use for about 6 months, its performance generally remains effective due to this quality composition. However, the exact durability depends on several factors: type and concentration of odors, frequency of use, and airflow rate. The saturation of the carbon is inevitable over time, even if the multi-layer design of the filter helps maintain good airflow and optimal filtration for longer. Thus, you can expect good functioning for approximately six months under intensive use, but it is important to regularly assess the olfactory performance to replace the filter as soon as effectiveness decreases.

Question 15

What is the noise level generated by this charcoal filter during its continuous operation in a medium-sized indoor space?

Accepted Answer

The ProActiv Ø150mm - 840m³/h charcoal filter from Garden HighPro is designed with multilayer technology that limits air resistance, thereby reducing noise related to turbulence. However, the manufacturer does not provide an exact noise level in decibels for this model. In practice, its operation in a medium-sized indoor space remains quite quiet, especially if the airflow is adjusted to a moderate level. This flexibility allows for noise reduction without sacrificing filtration quality. For optimal and discreet ventilation, it is recommended to pair this filter with a suitable extractor and to control the airflow according to the configuration of your installation.

Question 16

What is the noise level generated by this ProActiv carbon filter 840m3h in an indoor hydroponic installation?

Accepted Answer

The ProActiv carbon filter Ø150mm - 840m³/h generates virtually no noise, as it does not contain mechanical parts such as motors or fans. The noise in a hydroponic setup primarily comes from the associated air extractor. By comparison, a smaller ProActiv filter (Ø100mm - 250m³/h) is known to be very discreet, with a noise level around 25 to 30 dB(A). Therefore, you can expect the ProActiv Ø150mm to be at least as quiet, if not quieter, in your installation.

Question 17

Is the ProActiv 840m3h filter suitable for silent installation in small areas like 80x80 or 100x100?

Accepted Answer

The charcoal filter ProActiv Ø150 mm - 840 m³/h is fully effective for growing areas of 80x80 or 100x100 cm, as long as the installation is done with a diameter of 150 mm. Its compact design and multilayer technology allow for good air management with low pressure drop. For a silent installation, it is essential to pair this filter with a regulated and quiet extractor, using suitable ducts in Ø150 mm, avoiding bends and reductions that generate additional noise. If your installation cannot support this diameter, a filter in Ø100 mm may be easier to integrate but with lower flow rate. In summary, this filter is a robust and suitable solution if all ventilation is designed for this diameter, ensuring efficiency and compactness for your small area.

Question 18

What sizes of rooms under 20m² is the ProActiv 840m³/h filter effective for?

Accepted Answer

The charcoal filter ProActiv Ø150mm - 840m³/h is perfectly suited for rooms smaller than 20 m² (approximately 50 m³). Indeed, its flow rate of 840 m³/h is well above the actual need, which is around 300-400 m³/h for optimal air renewal. This over-efficiency is an advantage: operating at a moderate flow rate increases the contact time of the air with the activated charcoal, which improves odor filtration. You will thus have highly efficient and lasting air purification, even in spaces smaller than originally intended for this filter.

Question 19

What is the level of pressure drop of the ProActiv 150mm 840m³/h activated carbon filter to be integrated into an automated ventilation system?

Accepted Answer

The pressure drop level of the ProActiv Ø150mm 840m³/h activated carbon filter is not precisely indicated, but thanks to its multi-layer technology, it minimizes air flow resistance as much as possible. For filters of a similar size, this pressure drop generally ranges between 10 and 40 Pa, often towards the lower value due to its optimized design. This low pressure drop allows for effective integration into an automated ventilation system, provided that a fan capable of delivering a flow rate close to 840 m³/h is used to ensure optimal operation.
