Importance of a fan for indoor cultivation under LED horticultural lamps
If you want to start an indoor culture under LEDs horticultural lamp, know that a fan is often overlooked when it is very important. It is not used to cool your grow room, an air extractor is there for that. The fan will allow you to reproduce an essential natural element, the wind.
In an outdoor environment, the wind will allow plants and trees to strengthen. If the wind is not present, the plant would not strengthen and stems could fall easily, during flowering, with the weight of the flowers or fruits at the end of the branches.
The different fans
Free-standing fans
The free-standing fans are the most powerful that exist, you just have to place them next to your plants. A simple constant movement of your plants will allow you to see that your fan is working properly.
Oscillating clamp fans
The clamp and oscillating clamp fans are smaller, they will allow to ventilate from 1 to 4 plants. They can be attached to the bars of your grow room. Place them about 40 to 60cm high and well oriented towards your plants.
Clamp fans (non-oscillating)
There are also non-oscillating clip-on fans, which you can attach to the bars of your grow box. They are quite effective, even if the addition of an oscillation is a significant asset to take into account.
When to turn on your fan when growing indoors?
A fan may only be on for a few hours a day like this may be the case outdoors. But constant use is not bad for your plants.
