Help & advice

For a small budget, I advise you to opt for complete lighting kits or simple LED bars. The goal is to get good value for money without sacrificing the essential performance for your plants' growth. I often recommend starting with models that have a versatile spectrum to cover both growth and flowering. Feel free to check out our selection of Entry-Level Lighting to find suitable options.
The ideal wattage primarily depends on the surface area of your grow space. As a general rule, for a small area (around 60x60 cm), I recommend a 100 to 150W LED. For a larger space (100x100 cm), aim for 200 to 300W. What I often see is that beginner growers underestimate the necessary power, which limits their plants' potential. It's always better to have a bit more power and be able to dim it if needed.
The installation distance is crucial and varies depending on your LED's power and your plants' development stage. Generally, for seedlings and young sprouts, I recommend a distance of 40 to 60 cm. For vegetative growth, you can go down to 30-45 cm, and for flowering, 20-35 cm is often optimal. It's essential to observe your plants: if the leaves yellow or curl upwards, the light is too intense, and you need to raise the lamp.
The main difference lies in energy efficiency and light spectrum. Horticultural LEDs are much more energy-efficient and produce less heat, which simplifies temperature and ventilation management. They also offer a more precise and customizable light spectrum, optimized for photosynthesis. HPS/MH, although powerful, are more energy-intensive and generate a lot of heat, often requiring more robust ventilation systems.
Installing an LED lamp is generally simple. I advise suspending it above your plants using the provided hooks, ensuring it is stable and level. Then, connect it to an electrical outlet via a timer to manage day/night cycles. If you are using a grow tent, make sure the hanging system is compatible with the tent's structure.
For vegetative growth, a spectrum with a dominant blue light is ideal, as it promotes compact and robust development. For flowering, I recommend a spectrum rich in red and orange light, which stimulates the production of flowers and fruits. Many modern LED lamps offer a full spectrum or specific modes for each phase, which greatly simplifies the choice for growers.
This is a common question! In general, I consider that you need approximately 40 to 60% of the power of an HPS in LED to achieve equivalent, or even superior, results, thanks to the efficiency of LEDs. For example, to replace a 400W HPS, I would guide you towards a 200W to 250W LED. This is an estimate, as the quality of the diodes and the design of the LED lamp play a major role.
