Frequently asked questions
Your questions
For a surface of 80x60x70, is dimmable LED lighting really an advantage to optimize growth in compact spaces?
For a compact area like the HomeBox Ambient R80S (80x60x70 cm), dimmable LED lighting is indeed a real asset. It allows for precise adjustment of light intensity according to different growth phases, thus avoiding too strong or too weak lighting. This flexibility is ideal for optimizing the vigor of seedlings and young plants in restricted space.
Moreover, LEDs emit little heat, which preserves a stable and healthy environment in the box. The highly reflective inner coating also maximizes light efficiency, even at reduced power thanks to the dimmer. In summary, dimmable LED lighting offers perfect control to maximize growth while respecting the constraints of a small space like this.
To optimize the simultaneous management of two crops in the Ambient R80S box, do you recommend a separate timer system for each light source to independently adjust lighting periods and thus maximize the growth of different plants?
To simultaneously optimize two crops in the HomeBox Ambient R80S, using a separate timer system for each light source is indeed an excellent idea. This allows you to independently adjust the lighting cycles according to the specific needs of each plant and maximize their growth. The internal PAR+ reflection of the box ensures optimal light diffusion, and managing lighting schedules precisely with separate timers promotes an environment perfectly suited for multiple crops.
What is the maximum height of plants that can be comfortably grown in the Ambient R80S without compromising air circulation or accessibility?
The comfortable maximum height of plants in the HomeBox Ambient R80S (80x60x70 cm) is approximately 30 to 35 cm. This limit takes into account the space occupied by the pot, the hanging lamp, and the necessary margin to ensure good air circulation and easy accessibility.
Beyond that, ventilation may become less effective, and it becomes difficult to work with the plants without damaging them. This box is ideal for seedlings, cuttings, or young shoots, rather than for taller adult plants.
What is the maximum height of a LED lamp that can be installed without compromising ventilation in the HomeBox Ambient R80S 80x60x70 cm?
The HomeBox Ambient R80S provides an interior height of 70 cm. To avoid compromising ventilation, it is recommended to leave a space of at least 10 to 15 cm between the top of the suspended LED lamp and the roof, where the 160 mm air outlet is located.
Specifically, the suspended LED lamp should not exceed approximately 50 to 55 cm in height (from the floor to the bottom of the lamp). This ensures effective air circulation and leaves enough space for your plants without obstructing ventilation.
For optimal use, make sure that the space around the air outlet remains clear after installation. This way, you can fully benefit from the integrated ventilation system, designed for a stable and healthy environment.
What ventilation do you recommend to limit heat in the Ambient R80S without compromising light output?
For the HomeBox Ambient R80S, compact with a volume of approximately 0.34 m³, it is essential to install appropriate ventilation to limit heat without reducing the light output of your LEDs or T5 tubes.
We recommend a low-power extractor (approximately 80 to 120 m³/h), equipped with a dimmer or speed controller, to precisely adjust the airflow according to the indoor temperature. Such control offers a perfect balance between cooling and light conservation inside the box.
It is also important to leave an OmniFlow Air Vent of 125 mm open, equipped with a mesh, to ensure effective passive air intake while preventing the intrusion of insects.
Finally, a small oscillating fan placed inside the box will promote even heat distribution around the plants, thus avoiding overheating areas without disturbing the light flow.
This combination ensures excellent thermal management while maintaining optimal lighting for the growth of your plants.
What LED offers the best light output to optimize growth in a 80x60x70 cm grow room with a PAR+ coating?
For a grow space of 80x60x70 cm equipped with a PAR+ coating, it is essential to choose a horticultural LED of about 70-90 W that delivers a full and effective spectrum for plant growth. This coating optimizes the reflection of usable light (PPFD), thus allowing the best use of every watt consumed.
Among the most effective options for this size, the SpectraBULB X30 from BloomLED, Sanlight, and Greenception are particularly recommended. These models offer high-efficiency LED technology, low heat emission, and a spectrum suitable for photosynthesis, thus maximizing growth while limiting electricity consumption.
In summary, a powerful LED, well-sized around 80 W, combined with the PAR+ coating, provides optimal light output in this compact room.
Is the integrated ventilation sufficient to prevent moisture accumulation and limit the risk of mold?
The HomeBox Ambient R80S features well-thought-out passive ventilation with its various ports (100, 125, 160 mm) and OmniFlow-Airvents, ensuring good air circulation. This configuration naturally limits moisture accumulation and prevents the risk of mold, especially for the propagation of seedlings or cuttings in this small space of 0.48 m².
However, this model does not have an integrated fan: for longer crops or plants that generate a lot of moisture, it is advisable to add an active system (extractor or fan). This ensures optimal humidity control and a healthy environment for growth.
In summary, the integrated ventilation is sufficient for light and targeted use, but adding active ventilation is the best option to avoid any problems for more intensive crops.
What ventilation power do you recommend for a silent extractor suitable for the size of the Ambient R80S 80x60x70 chamber to limit noise without compromising air renewal?
For a HomeBox Ambient R80S (80x60x70 cm) growing chamber, a silent extractor with an air flow rate between 100 and 200 m³/h is ideal. This ensures effective air renewal to control heat and humidity while minimizing noise. Prefer a model with variable settings to adjust ventilation according to your specific needs.
What is the expected optimal yield with a SCROG LST in this R80S under LED compared to a traditional grow in free pots?
In the Ambient R80S tent (80x60x70 cm), the SCROG method combined with LST optimizes light distribution and spreads the canopy over a trellis, significantly improving light penetration under LED. Compared to a traditional grow in free pots, this process generally increases yield by 20 to 50% due to better space utilization and a denser development of flower heads on 1 to 2 plants.
However, this technique requires a longer vegetative phase and regular maintenance to properly spread the canopy, but it is ideal for maximizing production in a limited space like the R80S.
What weaknesses have you observed regarding the longevity of the zippers and the interior coating after several months of intensive use?
Regarding the longevity of the zippers and the interior coating of the Ambient R80S - 80x60x70 cm, the feedback after several months of intensive use is very positive. The Total-Blackout zippers provide a solid airtight closure, with no noted failures. The PAR+ super reflective fabric interior coating is known for its resistance and durability, with no signs of premature wear.
The thick and robust outer canvas complements this overall quality, ensuring a growing chamber designed to last and maintain excellent light efficiency over time. No recurring issues have been reported on these specific points.
How to optimize ventilation in the Ambient R80S to limit noise and odors without reducing air circulation?
To optimize ventilation in the HomeBox Ambient R80S without reducing air circulation while limiting noise and odors, here are the keys:
- Choose silent fans, ideally with speed control, to adjust the airflow to your needs without excessive noise.
- Install an activated carbon filter at the exhaust outlet; it effectively neutralizes odors without reducing airflow.
- Utilize the many OmniFlow-Airvent openings (on the left and right) to ensure regular circulation and avoid stagnant areas.
- Suspend fans on anti-vibration supports like foam cushions, and reduce the length of ducts to limit unwanted noise.
- Check the seal of the tent and maintain a slight pressure differential between the air intake and exhaust to prevent odor leaks.
By combining these actions, you ensure optimal and discreet ventilation, promoting healthy growth without compromising sound and smell comfort.
What is the ideal distribution of the number of plants per square meter in the R80S to optimize yield per gram/Watt at the beginning of the cycle?
The HomeBox Ambient R80S offers a cultivation area of 0.48 m², ideal for seedlings, young sprouts, or cuttings. To optimize yield per gram per Watt at the beginning of the cycle, it is recommended to start with a moderate density, usually between 4 and 16 plants per square meter, depending on pot size and plant vigor.
Thanks to its very reflective PAR+ interior coating and dimmable LED lighting, you can precisely adjust the light intensity to encourage balanced growth, which is crucial for maximizing energy efficiency. Adjust the density by observing growth to avoid overcrowding while fully utilizing space and light.
What ventilation do you recommend to avoid moisture buildup in the R80S during intensive growth?
