The simplest of the automatic controllers: it switches your extractor from a low position to a high position as soon as temperature passes the setpoint, then lets it drop back. Two buttons set everything, and the sensor is supplied.
The first step that changes everything: moving from an extractor running flat out around the clock to one that only speeds up when it gets warm. At this price, it is the best effect-per-euro in the range.
Two positions, two settings
The unit has a minimum-speed potentiometer and a thermostat. The first sets the speed at which the extractor runs normally; the second decides the temperature at which it switches to the high position. The rest happens on its own.
Where to place the sensor
The supplied sensor belongs at canopy height, shaded from the lamps and away from the extraction outlet. Against the unit or in the airflow it would read a temperature that is not the plants’, and the controller would regulate on a false value.
What this model does not do
It works by switching between two positions, not by rising progressively. If you want speed to track temperature continuously, look at a hysteresis or frequency-variation model. To hold a temperature ceiling in a small space, this one is plenty.

Set the minimum speed first, with the lamps on, until you get proper air renewal without intrusive noise. Only then touch the thermostat: it handles heat peaks, not the cruising speed.
