The Trafo Controller is a five-speed regulator whose housing contains a copper coil. Its job: absorbing the noise and hum produced when fan speeds change. Where an ordinary controller makes the motor sing at low speed, this one stays quiet.
The real argument: this is the one controller in the range designed first for silence. If your grow room is inside a home, that is the criterion that matters.
Why a transformer changes everything on noise
Most inexpensive controllers chop the voltage to slow the motor. That chopping produces a characteristic hum, all the more audible at low speed — precisely the setting at which you would want the installation to disappear. The Trafo Controller’s transformer instead delivers a clean voltage at each notch, and the copper coil absorbs whatever might still vibrate.
Control that comes down to one setpoint
Operation is deliberately simple: you set the desired temperature and the unit adjusts ventilation accordingly using its remote sensor. That sensor goes wherever you want in the grow space, letting you measure where the air actually matters rather than at the back of the box.
Designed for alternating-current motors
The manufacturer specifies this controller for alternating-current motors, which power the vast majority of conventional extractors. If yours is an EC model driven over 0-10 V, it expects a different kind of command: check your motor’s manual before choosing.
