pH, EC and temperature: complementary measurements

pH indicates how acidic or alkaline a solution is. EC measures its electrical conductivity and helps track its overall dissolved salt content; it does not identify individual nutrients. Temperature adds context to your checks and affects how readings are interpreted. Compare measurements under consistent conditions and follow the recommendations for your crop.

Choose well. Measure well.

Questions and practical answers

Does a pH meter also measure EC?

It depends on the model. The P50 Pro2 measures pH and temperature; the E50 Pro2 measures EC and temperature. The P160 Pro2 combines pH and EC among its measurements. Check the parameters listed on each instrument’s product page.

Which instrument should I choose for soil or coco?

For direct measurement, choose a probe designed for growing media and follow the manufacturer’s procedure. The S300 Pro3 measures pH and temperature in soft, moist substrates. A pen designed for water is not automatically a substitute for a substrate probe.

Which solutions should I use for calibration?

Use the pH or EC reference values specified in your model’s manual. Calibration solution, cleaner and KCl storage solution have different purposes. Check the units too: 1,413 µS/cm equals 1.413 mS/cm.

Should every probe be stored in KCl?

No. The storage method depends on the electrode and its generation. Some models need suitable wet storage; others require dry storage. Follow the exact manual for your instrument rather than applying one method to the entire range.

Can a monitor automatically adjust pH or EC?

The P700 Pro 2 and W650 Pro monitor measurements. Automatic dosing requires a compatible controller and pumps, correctly installed and configured. The standalone C800 Pro does not include pumps; kit contents depend on the configuration.

Does the W650 Pro have a display and its own mobile data connection?

Readings are viewed in the Aqua Master Tools app; the W650 Pro has no built-in display. Its connected features require Wi-Fi. The smartphone shown in some images is not included.
