Frequently asked questions
Your questions
Is it preferable to use the diamond side or the white side to maximize light reflection in a medium-sized grow box?
To maximize light reflection with the 1.25 x 100 m – 75µm White Diamond Mylar Film in a medium-sized grow box, it is preferable to use the diamond side. This side provides a more intense and direct reflection, ideal for enhancing brightness inside the growing space. The white side is recommended if you want a softer and more even light diffusion, but for maximum reflection efficiency, the diamond side is clearly the best choice.
What is the real impact of using the eco white diamond Mylar film 75 microns on light distribution and plant growth in hydroponics compared to a classic matte white coating?
The eco white diamond Mylar film 75µm significantly improves light distribution by reflecting up to 95% of light in multiple directions thanks to its textured surface. This multidirectional diffusion limits shadow areas and intense bright spots that are more often observed with a matte white coating, which reflects light in a more unidirectional manner. For hydroponic cultivation, this results in more uniform and vigorous growth: light reaches the lower leaves and peripheral areas better, thus stimulating photosynthesis across all plants. Furthermore, Mylar is highly durable and less prone to soiling, ensuring lasting performance. In summary, compared to a classic matte white, this film is an excellent choice for optimizing light and promoting optimal indoor growth.
Does the 75 micron white eco mylar diamond film increase light reflection, but is it resistant enough to the heat generated by powerful HPS or LED lamps without deforming or losing effectiveness?
The White Diamond Mylar Film 1.25 x 100 m – 75µm Eco Reflective is designed to optimize light reflection thanks to its durable polyester material and 75 micron thickness. Mylar generally withstands temperatures of up to approximately 149°C, making it compatible with the heat produced by powerful HPS or LED lamps, provided that a sufficient distance is maintained to avoid direct contact or excessive heat accumulation.
To ensure the longevity and effectiveness of the film, it is recommended to regularly monitor its condition and ensure proper installation, as prolonged exposure to very high temperatures could affect its reflective properties and structure.
Do you think that this thickness of 75 microns significantly impacts the durability and the performance of reflection compared to a thinner or thicker mylar in a standard indoor growing environment?
The thickness of 75 microns for this Mylar film is an excellent compromise for indoor cultivation. It ensures good durability against handling and wear, much more than thinner films that risk tearing quickly. Furthermore, this thickness allows the film to remain well stretched on the walls, thus optimizing light reflection without significant loss.
In summary, this thickness does not diminish reflection performance, rather it enhances the longevity of the product in a standard indoor cultivation environment, without sacrificing the quality of the reflected light.
What are the real advantages of the white diffusing side compared to the diamond side for flowering phase cultivation?
The white diffusing side of Mylar Film is ideal during the flowering phase because it evenly distributes light, which limits shadowed areas and promotes balanced flower development, especially in the denser parts of the plants. It creates a more uniform bright environment, beneficial for harmonious growth.
In contrast, the reflective diamond side sends back a more intense and direct light, stimulating photosynthesis. However, during flowering, an excess of intensity can sometimes cause stress to the plants. That is why the diffusion offered by the white side is often preferred during this critical phase.
In summary, the white side is a safe choice for optimized flowering due to well-distributed light, while the diamond side is useful for maximizing light intensity when needed.
Which face of the Mylar film should be placed facing the light source to optimize reflection without risking a reduction in diffusion?
For the Mylar White Diamond Film 1.25 x 100 m – 75µm Eco Reflective, it is generally not necessary to favor a particular side towards the light source. This type of film, often made of polyester, reflects light very well from both sides due to its diamond-like surface, providing effective diffuse reflection.
However, if one side has a shinier or metallic appearance, it is better to direct it towards the source to maximize direct reflection. In most cases, the orientation of the film does not have a major impact on diffusion, making it easy to install in your indoor growing space.
Which side of the white diamond mylar film 1.25 x 100 m should I orient towards the lamps to maximize light reflection in my grow box?
To optimize light reflection in your box, orient the diamond side of the White Diamond Mylar Film 1.25 x 100 m – 75µm towards your lamps. This embossed side maximizes direct light bounce, thereby increasing the intensity received by your plants.
The white side, on the other hand, diffuses the light more gently, ideal for harmonizing the lighting and limiting stress during flowering.
In summary, diamond side towards the lamps for maximum reflection, white side for softer diffusion.
Is integration possible with a home automation system such as light or temperature sensors to automatically adjust the position or orientation of the Mylar film in order to optimize light yield?
The Mylar Diamond White Film 1.25 x 100 m – 75µm Eco Reflective is designed to maximize light reflection in your growing space, but it cannot be automatically moved or oriented via a home automation system. In fact, there is no integrated mechanism that allows its position to be adjusted based on light or temperature sensors.
However, it is entirely possible to integrate smart sensors into your home automation setup to monitor these parameters and automatically act on other essential equipment such as lighting, ventilation, or mobile screens. This approach allows you to effectively optimize the microclimate and light input of your indoor cultivation, even if the Mylar film remains fixed.
To go further, some custom systems with movable panels covered with Mylar can be developed, but this is not a standard feature at present.
