Natural Composition & Structure of the Substrate
Mills Light Mix soil combines 30% black peat, 25% white peat, 20% structured mix, 15% peat moss fibers and 10% 0-6 mm perlite , enriched with lime. This mix ensures a perfect balance between root aeration, water retention and drainage, thanks to a fine-medium particle size derived from naturally occurring components.
Key advantage: Its fibrous and light structure promotes rapid development of the root system, guaranteeing optimal recovery of seedlings and cuttings from the first days.
Perfectly Calibrated pH & Conductivity
With a pH adjusted between 5.6 and 6.3 and a conductivity (EC) between 360 and 490 mS/cm , Mills Light Mix 50L offers remarkable stability for indoor growing. This optimal range promotes ideal nutrient absorption while maintaining an excellent buffering capacity (CEC), essential for limiting pH variations when adding fertilizers.
Thanks to this natural regulation, the growth of young plants is encouraged without the risk of excess. No adjustment is necessary during the first few weeks , allowing you to concentrate on observing and ensuring the optimal development of your crops.
Optimal Drainage & Balanced Water Retention
The blend of peat and perlite ensures Mills potting soil has balanced water retention, with an optimized capacity to limit overwatering. The high porosity rate (>30%) and rapid drainage prevent waterlogging and root rot.
How often should I water with Light Mix?
It is recommended to water when the surface of the substrate begins to dry out, on average every 3 to 5 days depending on conditions. This air/water balance limits water stress and promotes root oxygenation even after heavy irrigation.
Gentle Pre-fertilization & Nutritional Autonomy
Mills Light Mix incorporates a gentle pre-fertilization (NPK 14-16-18 at 1 kg/m³) , guaranteeing nutrient autonomy of 7 to 10 days for seedlings, cuttings and young shoots. This substrate is ideal for crops requiring precise control of nutrition from the second week.
Savings made: It allows you to save on the purchase of fertilizer during the first phase of cultivation, i.e. around €4 to €7 over a classic cycle, while adapting the fertilizer supply to each type of plant thereafter.
Exceptional Volume & Value for Money
Mills Light Mix is available in 50L bags , which can fill approximately 5 x 10L or 10 x 5L pots . Offering the best value for money, it costs less than €0.40/L . Bag packaging makes it easy to handle, and pallets are available for larger quantities, increasing your profitability through bulk purchasing.
An optimized investment for demanding growers and small productions looking for efficiency.
Applications & Cultivation Phases
This universal substrate is recommended for germination, initial growth and rapid rooting of cuttings . Ideal for vegetables, flowers or aromatic plants indoors and outdoors, it optimizes the first weeks of development.
Its optimal use extends over 3 to 5 weeks , depending on the size of the pots and the type of plant. The soil can be reused after cultivation via composting, in an environmentally friendly approach.
Joseph's Council
I've been using Mills Light Mix for several years because of its great flexibility: it really protects young plants from excess water while ensuring a clear recovery. Its light texture and the absence of excess fertilizer allow you to customize each growing cycle, ideal for experimenting with different boosters and amendments. I recommend it for both beginners and professionals looking for stability. Joseph – Director of GrowLED
