Frequently asked questions
Your questions
Rail compatibility: Is the 45W spotlight compatible with all types of standard rails or only with specific GreenVisuaLED rails?
The 45W GVL spotlight is specifically designed to be mounted on a specific rail, sold separately. It is not indicated that it works with all types of standard rails, so it is preferable to use the dedicated GreenVisuaLED rail to ensure a reliable and secure installation.
GVL SPOT 45W on 360-degree rail: Is the ability to orient the LED spot 360 degrees sufficient to ensure uniform light penetration in a SCROG or LST setup under LED? What are the practical limitations if you want to avoid shadow areas?
The GVL SPOT 45W on a 360° rail offers great orientation flexibility, which is an advantage for adjusting lighting according to SCROG or LST configurations. However, the 360° rotation alone is not sufficient to guarantee perfectly uniform light penetration.
Some limitations to consider:
- Its fixed 60° angle concentrates light on a targeted area, so a single spot does not uniformly cover an entire dense canopy.
- To avoid shadow areas, ideally multiple spots should be wisely placed along the rail and adapted to the density and arrangement of the plants.
- The installation height and positioning are also very important to ensure uniform lighting in these techniques where the plant structure is extended and horizontal.
In summary, the GVL SPOT 45W is an excellent tool to adjust light focus, but for homogeneous coverage in SCROG or LST under LED, multiple light points and careful planning of their placement are essential.
Does the 45W power of the SPOT 45 provide sufficient coverage for a 1m² growing and flowering area without overheating?
The SPOT 45, with its 45W power in CREE LEDs, offers excellent luminous efficiency and passive thermal management that limits overheating. However, its 60° angle focuses light on a rather restricted area.
For a surface area of 1m², this single spotlight might not ensure uniform coverage, especially during the flowering phase where the light requirements are higher. Therefore, we recommend using multiple SPOT 45s to ensure homogeneous light intensity and avoid shadow areas.
Finally, make sure to properly ventilate your growing space to support this passive thermal management and maintain an ideal temperature for your plants.
