Product questions
Your questions about this product
- Hello, can the BLUMAT system be easily adapted for off-season greenhouse crops, particularly to precisely control humidity without the risk of overwatering?Hello, the automatic irrigation system Blumat is indeed perfectly suited for off-season greenhouse cultivation. It precisely controls humidity thanks to its ceramic stakes that irrigate only when the substrate is dry, which eliminates any risk of overwatering. Its operation without electricity or pump makes it very reliable and easy to adapt according to your greenhouse needs. It is an ideal solution to maintain a good humidity level and ensure optimal growth.
- What is the maximum flow rate in liters per hour that the BLUMAT system with its 12 spikes can provide under optimal conditions? The combined maximum flow rate of the BLUMAT system with its 12 spikes under optimal conditions is about 0.045 liters per hour, or roughly 45 ml/h. Each spike delivers on average up to 90 ml of water per 24 hours, adjusting watering based on the plant's needs.
- Is integration possible with voice assistant for automated watering management without electrical power, monitoring temperature and humidity remotely compatible with this system, simplifying installation for indoor use with optimization of small spaces?
The Blumat automatic watering system for 12 plants - 3 m x 8 mm operates without electricity, thanks to a ceramic cone that manages water distribution based on substrate moisture. This mechanical mechanism makes it ideal for indoor use, even in small spaces, with a simple, discreet, and cable-free installation.
However, it does not have native integration with voice assistants or remote management. To monitor temperature or humidity remotely, you need to add compatible connected sensors (such as Xiaomi, Aqara, Tuya), which can communicate with home automation platforms like Home Assistant or through Google Home and Alexa, but only for monitoring. Voice control of the Blumat watering system is not possible as the system remains entirely mechanical.
To optimize installation indoors and in small spaces, the thin pipes (8 mm) and the simplicity of the system allow for a compact and discreet organization. If you are looking for a remotely controllable automated watering solution, you would need to consider specific electrical or connected systems.
If you would like recommendations for connected sensors or optimization accessories, feel free to ask.
- Can we adjust the water flow of Blumat carrots to adapt watering according to the type of plant under LED in SCROG or LST cultivation?Yes, it is entirely possible to adjust the water flow of Blumat carrots to tailor the watering according to the specific needs of plants grown under LED, whether in SCROG or LST. The adjustment is made simply via the screw located on each Tropf-Blumat probe: by turning this screw counterclockwise, you increase the flow, and clockwise you reduce it to just a drop at the end. This precise adjustment allows for perfect watering based on the type of plant and its microclimate, ensuring an ideal water supply.
- What is the minimum height recommended for positioning the reservoir so that the BLUMAT system functions properly without a pump or electricity? In order for the automatic watering system BLUMAT for 12 plants to function properly without a pump or electricity, it is essential to position the reservoir at a minimum height of about 70 cm above the level of the plants. This elevation ensures sufficient pressure for reliable and continuous watering. Also, make sure to connect the incoming hose just above the bottom of the reservoir (around 5 cm) to avoid water stagnation and facilitate maintenance.
- What advice would you give to adjust the frequency or amount of watering according to different growth and flowering needs with the BLUMAT system to optimize differentiated water management?
To optimize differentiated watering with the BLUMAT automatic watering system - 12 Plants - 3M x 8mm, start with precise installation: place each ceramic probe close to the roots and adjust the screw until dripping stops, then tighten by a quarter turn. This initial adjustment ensures a reliable base.
During growth, maintain a steady flow, gently adjusting the screw if the plant seems too dry or too wet. In flowering, slightly increase water supply especially during heat or heavy evaporation, while staying vigilant to each plant's reactions.
As the system is very sensitive, it is better to make gradual changes. Also adapt according to ambient temperature and humidity, as water demand can vary significantly. Thus, each probe self-manages its irrigation, providing individual and efficient hydration.
Finally, regularly check the tightness and pressure (around 1 bar) to ensure optimal functioning and avoid unexpected variations.
- Can the frequency and amount of watering be adjusted for each plant individually with the BLUMAT kit for 12 plants, or is the flow fixed and identical for each ceramic carrot? The BLUMAT automatic watering system for 12 plants uses ceramic carrots that regulate water according to the actual needs of each plant using capillarity. However, it is not possible to manually adjust the frequency or amount of watering for each plant individually. Each carrot operates autonomously to provide the suitable amount of water, but the flow remains fixed and identical throughout the kit.
- What is the minimum water pressure required for the Blumat system to function properly in hydroponics and avoid the risks of underwatering?
To ensure optimal operation of your automatic irrigation system BLUMAT – 12 plants – 3 m x 8 mm, particularly in hydroponics, the minimum water pressure required is 0.5 bar (approximately 7.25 PSI). Below this pressure, the risk of underwatering increases, as the flow may not be sufficient to properly activate the system sensors.
Conversely, you should not exceed 1 bar; beyond that, a pressure reducer is necessary to protect the system from surges that may cause leaks or damage.
If your setup has a higher pressure, do not hesitate to equip yourself with a Blumat 1 bar pressure reducer which will ensure regular and reliable irrigation.
- Can the kit be easily extended with additional tubes to water more than 12 plants without losing efficiency? The BLUMAT automatic watering system for 12 plants is designed to be easily extended. You can add additional tubes to water more plants without losing efficiency. In fact, up to 500 irrigation sensors ('carrots') can be integrated, providing great flexibility to expand your setup. Simply extend the hose and add more drip points to meet your indoor growing needs.
- What is the maximum recommended height for the reservoir to ensure optimal and regular watering without a pump with this Blumat 12 plants system?
To ensure optimal and regular watering with your Blumat 12 plants system (3 m x 8 mm) without a pump, it is important to position the reservoir between 0.5 meters minimum and 12 to 14 meters maximum above the plant level. This range ensures sufficient water pressure by gravity without risk of damage, as the maximum pressure supported is about 1.3 bar.
Also, make sure to use an opaque reservoir with a lid to limit algae growth, and to install a filter if you are using rainwater, to avoid clogging the pipes.
- What is the maximum height of the reservoir you recommend to ensure optimal watering without a pump with this Blumat 12 plants watering system? For optimal watering without a pump with the Blumat 12 plants system (3M x 8mm), it is recommended to position the water reservoir between 0.5 m and 14 m above the level of the plants. This height ensures sufficient hydrostatic pressure, up to about 1.3 bar, guaranteeing smooth and reliable operation of the system by gravity without the risk of damage.
- What flow rate of hydroponics can be expected with this Blumat system for 12 plants, and what is the maximum height of the reservoir for effective watering without additional ramp?
The BLUMAT automatic watering system for 12 plants has a total flow rate of about 0.045 liters per hour, which is approximately 3.75 ml/h per plant. This flow rate is constant and the same for each plant.
For the height of the reservoir, the system operates by gravity with a maximum pressure of 1.3 bar, corresponding to a maximum height of about 12 meters above the plants without requiring an additional ramp. Beyond that, the pressure may become too high and cause malfunctions.
This system is thus perfectly suited for simple automatic irrigation, based on substrate moisture, ideal for light hydroponics.
- Can a pipe longer than 3 meters be connected to cover a larger area with this Blumat 12 plants kit?
Yes, it is indeed possible to extend the supply hose beyond the 3 meters provided with the BLUMAT automatic watering system - 12 Plants - 3M x 8mm kit. The system uses a standard diameter of 8 mm, so you can add compatible hoses and fittings to cover a larger area, up to about 14 meters maximum.
For optimal irrigation, make sure to place your water tank at a height (between 0.5 and 14 meters above your plants) to ensure sufficient and stable pressure. A pressure reducer may be necessary to avoid excessive pressure. Each Tropf-Blumat dripper automatically adjusts according to soil moisture, even on an extended hose.
This modularity allows you to water a larger number of plants or an extended area without compromising the accuracy of the watering.
- How does the BLUMAT system manage watering differently between the growth and flowering phases to optimize plant growth? The BLUMAT automatic watering system - 12 Plants manages the growth and flowering phases through precise manual adjustment of the water flow on each ceramic probe. During growth, the flow is adjusted to maintain stable moisture that encourages root development. In flowering, the flow is increased to meet a higher water demand, especially in cases of heat or high evaporation. This fine regulation, carried out via the screw of each probe, allows the watering to be tailored to each plant according to its stage and ambient conditions, ensuring optimal hydration without waste.
- What is the ideal maximum height between the reservoir and the plants to ensure optimal watering with the BLUMAT automatic watering system for 12 plants? The ideal maximum height between the reservoir and the plants for optimal watering with the BLUMAT automatic watering system for 12 plants is about 12 meters.
