Your questions
Does the passive thermal dissipation of the GL420W under intense continuous lighting ensure optimal stability of the PAR and prevent premature degradation of the diodes during a SCROG LED cultivation on 1.2x1.2m?
Yes, the passive thermal dissipation of the GL420W is well designed to ensure optimal stability of the PAR flux during intense continuous lighting. This passive thermal management effectively maintains the temperature of the diodes, thereby reducing the risk of premature degradation. This luminaire is particularly suitable for SCROG cultivation on a 1.2x1.2m surface, perfectly covering this area while ensuring a long lifespan for the LEDs.
Effective consumption versus efficiency: with a stable consumption of 420W +/-5% and a light output of 1155 μmol/s, the GL420W offers an energy efficiency of up to 2.8 μmol/J. What is the actual consumption ratio in practice on the ground, taking into account dimming from 0-100% and real growing conditions?
The GL420W consumes nominal 420W ±5% with a theoretical yield of 2.8 μmol/J. In practice, the use of dimming from 0-100% allows for adjusting the power consumption according to the specific needs of each crop, often below the maximum power. This means that the actual consumption varies and can be optimized to reduce the energy bill without compromising growth. The effective light yield also depends on ambient conditions (temperature, humidity) and the type of plant grown, which affect the required light intensity.
In summary, thanks to dimming, it is common to observe an average consumption lower than 420W, with a μmol/J ratio close to the nominal or slightly above, depending on the applied intensity and environment.
