A plant does not feed through its thick roots: it feeds through its root hairs, the microscopic capillaries covering the root system. Why root hairs change everything

Main roots mostly anchor the plant and carry sap. The real nutritional work happens at their tips, on a crown of filaments so fine they are invisible to the naked eye. That is where water and minerals cross from substrate into plant.

• Exchange surface — a dense network draws from a far greater volume of substrate than a bare taproot.
• Fertiliser efficiency — whatever is not absorbed leaves with the drainage. A rich root mat cuts that waste.
• Steadier feeding — the plant draws continuously instead of swinging between excess and shortage between waterings.
• Faster recovery — after repotting or taking cuttings, the fine roots are the first to restart.

A plant better armed against stress

RootFast does more than grow roots. Atami also claims improved resistance to external stress: temperature swings, humidity shifts, irregular watering. A wide root system absorbs those shocks, where a poorly rooted plant takes them head-on.

Where it fits in an Atami programme

RootFast comes in early, at the very start of growth, while the plant builds its underground framework. It combines easily with any base nutrient and works in soil, coco and hydroponics alike.

• Soil — with watering, from the first nutrient feeds onward.
• Coco — especially useful, since coco holds almost no nutrient reserve of its own.
• Hydroponics — in the reservoir solution, keeping an eye on EC.

How to use RootFast

The dose is deliberately low: 0.1 to 0.3 ml per litre of nutrient solution, during the first three weeks of the growth phase. Shake the bottle well before every use — this is an organic product and its actives settle at rest.

RootFast slightly raises the EC of your solution. Measure after adding it, not before, and adjust your base nutrient accordingly rather than cutting back on the stimulator.
