The right mix starts with the plant.
An orchid, a Monstera and a cactus need different root environments. Choose a dedicated recipe, explore mineral mixes or build your own growing medium.

Choose by plant
Which plant are you repotting?
Start with the plant or growing method. These suggestions point to a recipe; each product page explains its uses and limitations.

SYBASOIL · GROWLED
Aeration, water, nutrition: three different roles
A component can open up a mix, retain moisture or supply nutrients. These functions are not interchangeable. Perlite is mainly chosen for aeration, vermiculite for water retention and worm castings for organic enrichment. Start with the plant, then match the mix and container to its needs.
Start with the roots
Fine, thick or aerial roots: the structure of the mix matters as much as the plant name.
Compare watering needs
Steady moisture for a fern, drying between waterings for a cactus: choose around the plant’s needs.
Separate mixes from components
A prepared recipe and a bag of perlite serve different purposes.
Stay in control of the growing conditions
Match the container, watering and nutrition to your chosen medium. A mix does not replace regular plant care.
Frequently asked questions
Is Universal Mix suitable for every plant?
It is intended for many common houseplants, but not cacti, succulents or carnivorous plants. A dedicated recipe remains preferable for specific requirements.
Do mineral mixes already contain fertiliser?
Base Mineral Mix is explicitly unfertilised. For any recipe, check the product page and plan nutrition suited to the plant and growing system.
How do perlite and vermiculite differ?
Perlite is mainly used to lighten and aerate a mix. Vermiculite is chosen to hold more moisture. They should not automatically be exchanged at the same proportion.
Coir fibre or coir chips?
The fibre provides a fine base for blends. Chips add larger pieces and air spaces. Choose according to the roots, pot and moisture retention required.
Are all these substrates suitable for terrariums with animals?
No. Several plant mixes exclude this use. Terrarium Mix mentions bioactive setups, but suitability still depends on the animal species, ingestion risk and other materials used.
How should I choose pack size and particle size?
The products offered come in 3 or 5 L bags, depending on the reference. Check the pack size on the product page and match granule size to the roots and container.
