Présentation du produit
Plagron NextGen Rooting Gel
NextGen Rooting Gel is a rooting gel without synthetic growth hormones , designed to promote healthy and vigorous root development on cuttings. Its formula works thanks to a natural rooting precursor and is very easy to apply.
- Hormone-free (no synthetic growth hormones)
- Biostimulant : supports natural processes (it is not a fertilizer)
- Simple application : adheres to the cutting
- Ideal for use with NextGen Growplugs
Why being rooted changes everything
A more extensive and developed root system means more roots, longer roots, and an increased number of root hairs . These root hairs play an important role in absorption and exchange at the substrate level.
NextGen Rooting Gel is designed to support this start by assisting the natural processes of the cutting during root formation.
Dosage & instructions for use (simple and clean)
- Pour a small amount of gel into a clean container (optimal hygiene).
- Use approximately 0.3 ml per cutting .
- Soak only the lower part of the cutting for 2 to 3 cm (the area where the roots will form).
- Place the cutting in the pre-made hole in the center of a NextGen Growplug (recommended by Plagron ).
Format: 150 ml bottle.
GrowLED tip (hygiene): Never put a cutting back into the bottle. Always work with a small amount poured into a clean container, then discard the rest after use.
Who is it for? When should it be used?
- For cuttings : at the time of collection, before plugging into the substrate.
- For those who want a solution without synthetic growth hormones .
- Particularly consistent if you are using the NextGen range (Growplugs).
NextGen Rooting Gel vs Clonex: A factual comparison
At GrowLED, we first advise based on your growing method and philosophy. Here's the main difference, without the fluff :
| Comparative point | Plagron NextGen Rooting Gel | Clonex (rooting gel) |
|---|---|---|
| Nature of the product | Biostimulant (not a fertilizer) | Auxin-based gel (growth hormone IBA ) – depending on version/strength |
| Growth hormones | No synthetic growth hormones | Yes : IBA, with several concentrations depending on the color (e.g. 1.5 g/L, 3.0 g/L, 8.0 g/L) |
| Philosophy | Supports the plant's natural processes during root formation | Delivers a growth hormone to the cutting point (IBA) |
| Application | Pour into a clean container, soak, then plant | The manufacturer also recommends decanting in a clean container and discarding the excess. |
How to choose?
• If you are looking for a hormone-free gel: NextGen Rooting Gel.
• If you are looking for an IBA-based “hormonal” product (with strengths/colors): Clonex.
FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)
Is NextGen Rooting Gel a fertilizer?
No. It's a biostimulant : it doesn't directly provide nutrients, it supports root development.
What is the difference between a biostimulant and a hormonal product?
A hormonal product relies on synthetic growth hormones . NextGen Rooting Gel is hormone-free and works by supporting the plant's natural processes.
How far should the cutting be soaked?
Only the base, about 2 to 3 cm (area where the roots need to form).
Can I apply the gel directly from the bottle?
For optimal hygiene: no . Pour a small amount into a clean container to avoid contaminating the bottle.
GrowLED Council
If you want a clean and even start: prepare your space (clean tools, clean container), work quickly after harvesting, and use a suitable growing medium ( NextGen Growplugs are designed for this). If you're hesitating between a hormone-free gel and an IBA-based gel, tell us your plant type, your substrate (plug/coco/soil/rockwool), and your growing conditions (temperature/humidity): we'll guide you toward the most suitable solution.

Product questions
Your questions about this product
- How to use the NextGen Rooting Gel correctly?Pour approximately 0.3 ml of gel into a small clean cup, then dip only the lower part of your cutting (2-3 cm) into the gel[1]. Immediately place the cutting in your growing medium (potting soil, coconut, hydroponics) or in a cutting cube. Never use the gel directly from the bottle to avoid contamination[1]. The gel adheres perfectly to the stem and does not require dilution[2].
- What growing systems is the NextGen Rooting Gel compatible with? The NextGen Rooting Gel works with all growing systems: soil, coco, hydroponics, as well as with rooting cubes, growing plugs, and direct growing media. It is particularly effective when combined with NextGen Growplugs for optimal integration.
- How long does the NextGen Rooting Gel last? The NextGen Rooting Gel has a shelf life of 1 year after production (in an unopened bottle)[5]. Store it between 5°C and 25°C, away from cold and light, to maintain its maximum effectiveness[5].
- Why choose the NextGen Rooting Gel over a classic hormonal gel?Unlike synthetic auxin-based gels, the NextGen Rooting Gel is a **hormone-free biostimulant** that activates the plant's natural processes[1][3]. It uses a natural root precursor to stimulate root formation without the risk of hormonal overload. This means reliable and consistent results, even for beginner growers, with better plant resistance to stress[3].
- What time savings and success rate can be expected with this product? The NextGen Rooting Gel **significantly reduces rooting time** and improves the uniformity among your cuttings. By promoting a more developed root system with more root hairs, it increases nutrient absorption and the success rate of cuttings. You get stronger and more vigorous plants from the start, saving time and resources.
- Is the NextGen Rooting Gel suitable for professional growers and hobbyists?Yes, the NextGen Rooting Gel is designed for both. Its controlled and precise action ensures consistent results without damaging sensitive young plants. The gel texture facilitates measured application (0.3 ml per cutting), while its universal compatibility with all substrates and systems makes it an essential tool to optimize your yields, regardless of your experience level.
