What are grow boxes?

In indoor growing, a box is called a grow room. It is a gardening tool that allows you to grow your plants indoors. These boxes are designed to reproduce the climatic conditions of the exterior, producing a small ecosystem directly at home.

This system allows you to germinate, reproduce and grow your plants in an environment similar to the outside world, for example you can grow your own crop of peppers, tulips or herbs.

Boxes are very popular in agriculture because they offer quick results and good quality. If you want to start growing indoors, you will still need a fairly large space and some installation work beforehand.

But the grow room is still an essential tool for the development of your crop. If you plan to invest in this revolutionary and innovative tool, you will first need to find a suitable room, estimate its size, check its temperature, and determine the quantity of plants you want to grow in it.

Once all these things are done, you can then proceed with the purchase on Growled: an online shop specialising in the sale of horticultural products.

which grow room to choose ?

On Growled you will find a wide range of grow boxes: Probox, Secret Jardin, Homebox, G-TOOLS, Green Cube, Gorilla Grow Tent, Optiroom...

But which grow room should you choose to grow your plants indoors? Depending on the space you have available, you can choose a triangle, rectangular or square model.

You will find on our site the box adapted to your space and to your needs (propagation, stuffing, germination). All our growing rooms are suitable for growth and flowering.

All our tents are made of quality materials, waterproof and will last over time. In fact, they reproduce the same climatic conditions as outside in order to recreate an environment identical to that of nature. The management of air, humidity, temperature and light will therefore be extremely simple.

The boxes we sell are of high quality. They do not allow light to shine through and have a tray on the floor of the tent to avoid any risk of leakage in the event of hydroponics. The inner sheet of the tent is reflective, ideal for plants.

What is a tent made of?

Our grow boxes are made of canvas (which can be reinforced), held together by metal bars connected by plastic or metal fittings. Our boxes have one or more closable doors with zips, usually in black or grey.

They are watertight and airtight and are made of "Mylar 210D" aluminium, known for its resistance. Everything is done so that the climate can be optimally controlled without being affected by the outside temperatures.

This box will allow you to reproduce each season of the year to optimize and maximize your yields thanks to :

- Light: provided by the horticultural lighting

- Temperature and humidity: thanks to climate control

- Air: thanks to adapted ventilation, with our air extractorsducts and carbon filters

- Protection: thanks to the tent which protects against the appearance of insects.

As previously mentioned, the white inner lining reflects the light from your horticultural bulbs, helping to conserve heat for your plants.

With a little more investment, you can of course also find more durable models that also offer other options. These include extra tiers, ventilation grilles, side doors, storage pockets, hanging straps to secure your lamp, a partition for assembling tents or even larger dimensions.

Depending on the model and brand you choose, your tent can be equipped with windows, holes or socks to pass your cables and connections in an aesthetic way or to facilitate the passage of your ventilation duct for air extraction/interaction.

Another option is to have a "hard room" to develop your indoor garden. This means that you can have a fixed, solid wall installed inside your room. The reason for this is that tarpaulins are not very effective against noise from such things as ventilation systems (extractor noise) and lighting (ballast noise).

Even during the flowering period, plants can have a more or less strong odour, so don't forget to equip yourself for odour treatment (e.g. with a carbon filter).

Where is the best place to set up and furnish a grow room?

Before buying a grow room, make sure you have the space to house it and find a suitable location.

Even if we have several sizes to offer you, you must take into account that a grow room has a large volume in any case, even if you choose the smallest model. The smallest boxes are 60cm high and the largest can be up to 2 metres high. You will therefore need a minimum width of 80 to 120cm because you need to think about the growth of your plants.

You should therefore find out beforehand what kind of plants you want to grow. Don't forget that with pots, the plants are raised above the ground. And the lighting should be suspended at a distance of about 30 cm from the roof of your tent.

Add to this the distance between the plants and the lighting. The choice of the size of your tent is therefore very important and should be carefully considered. It is important to bear in mind that a garden in flowering season takes up more space than a garden in growth season.

Once you have decided on a location, you will need to clean your room from top to bottom. Eliminate all elements that could prevent or encourage the penetration of dust: rugs, carpets, curtains, etc.

The room that will contain your box must have a low level of humidity. It is not necessary for your room to have a high level of humidity as your box will contain enough. If your room is damp, we strongly recommend using a dehumidifier.

Why create two growing areas?

For permanent cultivation, we advise you to set up two rooms. That is, you should have a space for the growing phase: which will provide space for seeds, mother plants and cuttings, and another space for the flowering phase: a large space for the developing plants.

For best results, we advise you to keep each space separate and airtight, if the size of your box allows it. If this is not possible, some of our boxes are compartmentalised and can perform this function.

However, once again, you will have to pay attention to the space of your room because this system will take up even more space. You should also consider the high cost of this technique.

Of course, you can find the most suitable solution as your plants grow, but it is better to start at the beginning of your cultivation. If you choose to adopt this gardening technique, you will need experience.

You need to be able to handle the two different climates simultaneously and know how to manage the different stages of growth of your plants.

What are our tips for maintaining your growing space?

Our boxes offer solutions adapted to obtain an efficient yield. You simply need to learn how to manage your growing space and control germination, cuttings and flowering.

When your plants are growing, the ideal temperature inside your tent should fluctuate between 20 and 25 degrees during the day and should be around 18 degrees at night. The humidity level should be between 50% and 70%.

The most suitable light spectrum should be royal blue (cold colour) under reflector. You can add a fan, an extractor and a carbon filter to eliminate bad odours. These elements will also prevent the heat from the lamps from reaching the plants.

When your plants are flowering, the temperature inside the tent should fluctuate between 25 and 27 degrees during the day, and around 18 degrees at night. The humidity level should be between 40% and 60%.

The most suitable light spectrum should be deep red (warm colour) under reflector. You can add a fan to help dissipate the excess heat generated by the bulbs, preventing the heat from reaching the plants.

All these elements are suitable for growing young plants and seeds. However, you should not lose sight of the need for good lighting, as well as the use of a suitable fertiliser and CO2 diffusers.
